Description

Titanium 6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo, also known as 6246 or 6-2-4-6, is an alpha-beta alloy that can be heat-treated to achieve higher strength in larger section sizes compared to Titanium 6Al-4V Grade 5. It exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, making it a popular choice for applications requiring high strength, lightweight materials, and good corrosion resistance. Like other titanium alloys, 6Al-2Sn-4Zr-6Mo's corrosion resistance is attributed to the formation of an oxidation layer upon exposure to oxygen. Additionally, its approximately 6% molybdenum content enhances its corrosion resistance in environments with high hydrogen sulfide (H2S) levels and in seawater, making it an ideal material for offshore and subsea oil & gas applications.
