Introduction of TC4 titanium alloy

Titanium alloy has low quality and high strength, good high temperature strength and good corrosion resistance, and has been widely used in aerospace, navigation, automotive and medical equipment, sports equipment and other emerging fields. As a medium strength α-β titanium alloy, TC4 is mainly used in the manufacture of aircraft fuselage, wing parts and engine blades, and is the most widely used titanium alloy at present. TC4 alloy is known as an ace titanium alloy with high strength, good thermal stability, excellent corrosion resistance and good biocompatibility. It has been applied in many fields and has also begun to be used as tubing material.

TC4 titanium alloy belongs to α+β type alloy, and its properties are closely related to its microstructure. The α phase with dense hexagonal structure and the β phase with body-centered cubic structure constitute the basic phase of TC4 titanium alloy. The proportion, shape and size of the two phases directly determine the mechanical properties of TC4. The initial microstructure of TC4 titanium alloy mainly depends on the cooling rate during the forming process. The higher the cooling rate is, the finer the microstructure is.

TC4 titanium alloy has the advantages of high specific strength, low density, good corrosion resistance, excellent toughness and weldability, and has been successfully applied in aerospace, petrochemical, shipbuilding, automobile and other fields. Combined with its performance advantages, most of the important parts of civil aeroengine such as blades and turbine disks are made of TC4 material.

TC4 titanium alloy forging process

When the deformation temperature is 1000℃ and the deformation amount is 50%, the deformation rate is lower or higher than 2mm/s, which is helpful to reduce the damage value of forgings and improve the quality of forgings.

the forging quality is good when the deformation temperature is 925℃, the deformation rate is 1000 mm/s and the deformation is 70%.

The influence of various forging process parameters on the maximum damage of TC4 titanium alloy forgings during forging deformation is in the order of deformation rate > deformation amount > deformation temperature.

Preparation process of TC4 titanium alloy

In the preparation process of TC4 titanium alloy pipe, the α phase grain constantly underwent deformation and recrystallization with the increase of cold rolling and annealing times, so the α phase grain size gradually decreased; After intermediate and final annealing, the α phase grain size of the tube billet decreases successively from the outer surface to the inner surface, and the degree of unevenness increases, indicating that the deformation of the tube billet increases gradually from the outer surface to the inner surface.

The texture of TC4 titanium alloy pipe has a great correlation with Q value during cold rolling. When the Q value is large, the inner surface is mainly subjected to wall reduction deformation, and the orientation is dominated by tilting base plane texture. The outer surface is mainly reduced in diameter deformation, and the orientation tilts along RD direction. When the Q value is small, the inner and outer surfaces mainly undergo diameter reduction deformation, and the orientation changes from tilting base texture to cylindrical texture along RD direction.
