4. The development of Gr5 titanium oil pipe 

With the continuous development of exploration and development to deep wells, ultra-deep wells, harsh and corrosive environments and deep seas, the service conditions of oil well pipes have become increasingly complex and severe, leading to the frequent occurrence of oil well pipe fracture accidents in some oil fields under high temperature, high pressure and high corrosion conditions. The safety, reliability, service life and economy of oil well pipes are extremely important to the petroleum industry. It is urgent to research and develop and promote the application of new materials and new technologies. Titanium alloy oil well pipes have become one of the key development directions in the future. 

5.The advantages of Gr5 titanium oil pipe

a. Titanium pipe have a low density, which can significantly reduce the load on the string, especially for ultra-deep oil well pipes.

b. Titanium pipe has high strength, including: elongation strength, creep strength, fatigue strength, etc.

c. Titanium pipe has excellent corrosion resistance and seawater corrosion resistance and can be used as downhole tools.

d. Titanium pipe has a wide operating temperature range. The operating temperature of conventional titanium alloys is from minus 269 ℃ to minus 600 ℃.

e. Titanium pipe has large elastic deformation ability, titanium alloys have high yield strength and low elastic modulus (E), so they are very suitable for parts such as springs, and more importantly for large displacement horizontal wells.

f. Titanium pipe has a lower coefficient of expansion. This feature makes petroleum equipment more adaptable to changes in temperature and reduces the internal stress of structural parts.

g. Titanium pipe is non-magnetic, suitable for the normal use of some detection, communication and control methods in various equipment.

h. Titanium pipe has good processing performance. Titanium alloys usually have good processing properties such as casting, forging, welding, and 3D printing. This is often an important factor in the selection of various engineering materials.

6. The application of Gr5 titanium oil pipe

a. Titanium alloy drill collars and titanium alloy pipe produced with titanium pipe not only have the strength of steel drill collars and pipe, but also have the flexibility of synthetic materials, relatively light weight, good corrosion resistance and durability. Especially in the high stress state of drilling short-radius horizontal wells, its life is much longer than that of steel drill rods and steel drill collars.
